Travel into the past. Visit a haunted Abbey in Carta, Transilvania – Part I – accomodation

The Abbey of Carta (photo) is the oldest construction of its kind in eastern Europe. The Abbey, that is also said to be haunted, is located at 43 kilometers (27 miles) from the Sibiu city, one of the most beautiful establishments in Transylvania. I would normally recommend to find accommodation in Sibiu and, by car or train, to see the surroundings. But there is no need to do that if you want to visit the Abbey.

The Abbey is located in the small village of Carta. There, you can find accommodation at a family that have turned their house into a hotel. You can find this pension at five-minute walk from the ‘haunted’ Abbey. The owners are also the ones that take care of the guest so you can be sure that you will feel great. They are very nice people.

The yard is huge so if you travel by car you can park there, no need to worry about car thieves, the gates are secured and also, in small villages like this one, there is almost no crime at all. The rooms are really big. The TV is a little old but hey, who needs TV, when on vacation…You cannot smoke in the rooms but you can smoke on the balcony. There are 7 matrimonial rooms and two double. Each room has a bathroom. The prices are pretty cheap, but you have to make a reservation a few weeks ahead (at least).
